I have decided to kick of the summer the old fashioned way...MOVIES!! I plan to watch a different movie everyday of summer and then comment on it to inspire other to watch more TV (JK!) and increase my typing speed (I'm really slow!) and increase my posts on this site!!To begin my marathon and end the severe trauma finals have caused me, I decided to watch something light and funny. The result...drum roll please!!..........was..........THE PRINCESS BRIDE!!
It's the story of a girl who falls in love with a "lowly" farm boy!! (set in medieval times obviously) Of course their madly in love and have this great whirlwind romance that takes like half-a-second to develop, but it's cute anyway. So they want to get married but farm boy has no money and says to start a family he needs money. And after a tearful goodbye he leaves. Apparently just to find work he has to go to another country because the next we hear about him he was attacked on a boat by the Dread Pirate Roberts (that is his exact name...I'm not kidding!) and the Dread Pirate Roberts leaves no one alive, so Buttercup (that's the girls name) is, of course, heartbroken and sinks into great despair. FLASH!! Suddebly it like 5 or 7 years later and Buttercup is supposed to marry the prince. She doesn't love him but she doesn't care becuase her only love is dead. (This where I thought she should quit feeling sorry for herself and go get revenge on the stupid pirate, but alas she decided to be a passive aggressive and self-deprecating character.) The prince hires a guy to kidnap her and then kill her in the next country, so that he can blame her death on them and start a very profitable war. But wait who comes to her rescue a mysterious man in black - he defeats the two henchmen and then kills the main kidnapper and saves Buttercup. Eventually it is revealed that he is the farm boy, all grown up and possesing crazy fighting skills. They still have to get back and o they battle their way through a sleazy, bad special effect, non CGI'd forest only to be caught by the prince that tried to kill her (but they don't know it) Farm boy is taken prisoner, she is forced to marry the prince blah, blah, blah... Of course farm boy saves the day amid cheesy, but albeit funny humor and they literally ride off into the sunset. As if it couldn't get any worse you realize this story is only a book read by a grandpa to the kid from the Wonder Years (Fred Savage). I LOVED IT!!!!! It was really funny and pretty sweet. It didn't hurt that the farm boy was pretty sexy - he had thet whole blue eyes blonde hair thing going for him. And he wears black tights, long leather boots, and one of those flowy shirts medieval people wore that only make him look nicer.
In real life the farm boy played the bad guy in Ella Enchanted and buttercup was in Forrest Gump (she was Jenny) and is married to Sean Penn.
I would recommend anyone to rent it. It's actually a classic movie!
If anyone has any movie ideas TELL ME!! I'll need them!!

I am pretty sure no one reads these entries, so I feel pretty comfortable posting almost anything. But does this mean I am writing to myself?.......
Anyway I am writing today because I need to escape my brainwashing - I have been watching "Love Boat" everyday for the past week and a half, and I'm finally starting to feel the effects of its lovey-dovey stories and perfect endings. My life has become a severe disappointment because I don't live on a 70's cruise liner and I don't currently go on daily adventures or have a sexy steady boyfriend. I think I need to start watching some more realistic shows, like "Dog, the Bounty Hunter" or "Harper's Island." (Just Kidding!!) But seriously any good TV show or movie ideas, something besides a show with a 'Cinderella ending'? I need help! If I don't start watching something else soon, I'm going to run away from home and stow away on a large boat, to look for excitement and free food!!
I also felt the need to write because this is a really, really good place to vent. In my American History class we are studying WWII and that was probably the most USELESS war ever. It was the biggest waste of time to learn about it and an even bigger waste of time fighting it. Sometimes it makes you wonder who are world leaders are. I, in my teenage years, am A LOT smarter than any of those WWII leaders. I am sure more than 50% of teens today would be smarter than those world leaders. I mean all of that fighting and death and sadness and pain and money and insanity and destruction was all becuase Japan felt like it needed a little more room and Germany was bored. If Hitler would have just invented a new board game instead of a different type of tank we would all be in different world and millions of lives would have been spared. But since tensions were so high and another world war was inevitable, I must say, I think it was America's fault. I mean if we hadn't forced Germany to pay all those war debts after WWI, then Germany would not have entered a severe depression and Hitler would never have risen to power and instead he would a happy car salesman, living with his wife and two kids in a small Germanic suburb, plus millions of people would be alive. Way to go, America!
Another thing I find weird is when you meet people from school, people you used to be really great friends with, but haven't talked to them in, like, a year, at some restaurant or in the store. It's really awkward. Has that ever happened to you? (Great, now I'm writing AND talking to myself!!) You're not really sure whether you should enter this whole long conversation with them about their life, dreams , and political views - should you just say 'hi' or ignore them completely. It's like rocket science... I mention it because I just had an awkward run in with a guy from school, and at a McDonald's no less! We used to be good friends freshman year, but summer, other classes, and different friends have pushed us apart. So I stuck with a wave and a 'hey', but problem was we were in those two lane drive through things...and I couldn't escape! If you're thinking NIGHTMARE that's exactly what I was thinking!! He was driving and I was in the passenger seat, so we were literally like a foot(!!) away from each other and today, of all days, McDonald's decides to have a french fry crisis, so we are sitting here for like 15 minutes without moving just staring at each other looking uncomfortable, just as I was about to ask him about the history test (I think he is in my history class...) The driver of my vehicle decides to whip the car through the drive thru at breakneck speeds and we are out before I could say 'bye'. Yep...can't wait to see him tomorrow! Speaking of guys I had another nasty run in with a friend of mine. He continues to insist that I am always wrong and that I am the most stubborn person he has ever met. While he harasses me (okay, maybe harrass is a little too strong of a word...) he throws in a couple 'I hate you's'. Today he continued to insist that America was not a major contributor to the lend-lease policy!! WE CREATED IT!!!!! Idiot...sometimes I really just want to smack him!! I'm sure you guys have got the same issue! (Gosh, I've really got to stop talking to myself!!)
On a lighter note, my friends and I are all slowly becoming almost 3,000 lbs because we have celebrated so many birthdays at school. (Maybe it should be on a fatter note?!) Kids keep bringing in cupcakes, chocolate, gushers, and fruit roll-ups....we could single handedly tame a classroom full of insane kindergartners with the amount of candy and sweets we have been eating! Speaking of getting to be the size of mini planets, I'm heading out for a jog!
Thanks for listening!! (If anyone really is reading...)
Quote of the day: From "Saving Private Ryan" about soldiers during WWII. Great movie go watch it!
Steamboat Willie: [while being told he is about to be killed by Americans...he's German]: Please, I like America! Fancy schmancy! What a cinch! Go fly a kite! Cat got your tongue! Hill of beans! Betty Boop, what a dish. Betty Grable, nice gams. Steamboat Willie: [trying to sing national anthem]: I say can you see! I say can you see! I... I say... Steamboat Willie: Fuck Hitler. Fuck Hitler!

It feels like months since i've last been on this site...oh wait it has been months!! I have just been so busy - you know school, reading, school, family, SAT/ACT stuff, school, sports...did I mention school?! I'm sure you guys know what that's like!
Since i've been on hiatus (sound better than just saying abandoned!) i've seen really great movies - Twilight (hasn't everyone?!), The Constant Gardener (so sad!!), and Taken (gotta have some action!). I've survived my crazy history class, where I learned that there are fields in Champagne, France that still have unexploded mines in them from WWI!! (prisoners go to the starting line...)(seriously i'm just kidding about that!!) I've taken the PLAN Test (pre-ACT) and realized that scientific reasoning is for the birds!!
I've read The Turn of the Screw and Farewell To Arms and now completely understand why people always remember classics - you get so bored you begin to read the same line over and over again! I also read Bonechiller, Sylvia Plath (story of the poet who committed suicide), and Breaking Dawn. All amazing books except for Breaking Dawn. Did anyone else hate the whole preggers story line? I have also delved into the dark depths of Edgar Allan Poe's tortured mind by reading many of his short stories for a school project. I love Poe's stories and was really excited about the project! I can safely say I was not disappointed - he is indisputably a genius. If you too have an interest in this author please visit www.poestories.com it gives access to his complete works as well as bio info - a really interesting site. (I would recommend Berenice and The Imp of Perverse!)
I have also come to the realization that many of the people at my school are quite stupid. One student even replied to the statement that farmers sOw by stating that he thought only farmers wives sEw. You know what I mean?! HaHa! Good thing my friends are all smart! (Hey Xandria and Patsy!!)
End of rant, diatribe over!! Happy BELATED Valentines Day!! (So overrated!! XD)

I feel really pathetic today! It's summer and I should be enjoying it, but instead I am so (oooooo) bored! I really must make a run to Barnes and Nobles or I'll have to commit myself to a mental hospital. But boredom is better than school.... right ?.........right? *confused* Does anyone know the number to to the nearest mental hospital?
I hope everyone else is having an enjoyable summer!!!

Hey guys,
Wow its been ages since I last wrote in my journal. Geez, how time flies! Since I last wrote I have done sooooo much. I took my mid-term exams (OOOOOHHHHH, I know what fun!), played numerous basketball games, and have enjoyed half of my holiday. By enjoy I mean I lazed around my house and watched TV. Oh, and I can't forget I have FINALLY caught up on my reading. I am currently waiting for the Sweet Far Thing release on Dec. 26 and if any of you have read Twilight or any of those books you know a movie is being made. Well, they just announced the actor and actress to play Edward and Bella. I could never be more disappointed! Edward will be played by Robert Pattinson and Bella by Kristen Stewart. (StephanieMeyer.com/twilight_movie.html). These were definitely not my first choices, but we will have to wait and see how they do.
I wish a happy holidays to all and happy reading as well. I will see most of you when I return from my lazy days to school! NNNNNNOOOOOOOO!!!! SSSSCCCCHHHOOOOOOOOOOOOLLLLL!!!! |
